This industrial unit of 20,000 square feet was occupied by G4S. Murtagh Demolition were commissioned to deal with the service isolations, asbestos removal and clearing the internal part of the building back to its original shell structure. This involved the removal of ground and first floor structures within the warehouse along with all the security systems associated with storing up to £300 million in cash. Murtagh Demolition also removed and demolished large walk in strong rooms/vaults with half metre thick reinforced concrete walls as part of this project. 

This project was completed within its timeframe and with an excellent safety record.

Cardington Hangar Works Completed By Murtagh Demolition For Warner Brothers Pictures Dec 2012

Murtagh Demolition have just completed the dilapidation works to Cardington Hangar #2 for Warner® Brothers Pictures at Bedford.

The works involved were completed last week, on time and to schedule.

Warners® have occupied the hangar for the past 9 years where they filmed many successful motion pictures including Shutter Island and The Dark Knight Rises. The dilapidation works involved the following: 

Testing and servicing of the water, heating systems and electrics throughout the hangar. Murtagh Demolition carried out repairs to the internal concrete slab of the hangar and steel work that had been damaged by Warners® during their occupation. Removal of internal walls that had been put in by Motion Picture Giant. Minor repairs were also carried out throughout the offices and workshops within the hangar building to bring the building back as it was formerly.

Murtagh Demolition Takes Down Batman!

Murtagh Demolition has just taken down Batman! Well, the set that is. Warner Brothers® Pictures have appointed Murtagh Demolition, as their preferred contractor, to dismantle the most recent Batman set in Cardington, Beds. The movie "The Dark Knight Rises" starring Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Liam Neeson, will appear in cinemas from July this year. Warner Bros® have been using Hangar No 2  for over 8 years for their film sets. Murtagh has this job directly from Warner Brothers® to remove the most recent Batman film set from within the hangar. The movie giants are also vacating the hangar now hence Murtagh Demolition has a 12 week contract program to bring the hangar back to its original condition.
